REGISTERED MEDICATION AIDE

RMA’s duties entail providing routine daily medications, either prescription or non-prescription, to patients whose condition and drug regimen are stable. When not administering medications, the RMA oversees Direct Care Staff (DCA) on the unit.

PROGRAM DURATION

Program includes a total of 48 hours on location and 20 hours of clinical practicum

EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or GED is required to enroll. No other experience required
Must be able to read and write in english
Students seeking enrollment in the program must meet one of the following prerequisites:
- Successful completion of the 40-hour Direct Care Staff Training required by DSS for ALF employment: or
- Successful completion of a Board of Nursing approved nurse aide training program: or
- Successful completion of one clinical course of a nursing program

Application Processing Fee – $50.00 | non-refundable (includes cost of background check)
Enrollment – $750.00 | due the first day of class (processing fees may apply for Credit Card or PayPal)

Completing this course will prepare you to take the Medication Aide Exam which is administered externally by the Virginia Board of Nursing. Upon completing this examination, usually within 3 months, you will be a fully licensed Registered Medication Aide!!
